Academic Technology Services (IT-ATS) assists faculty members to enhance student learning through the appropriate application of technology. Staff members provide specialized assistance in areas such as webcasting, distance learning, digital media, video, satellite uplink and downlink, and videoconferencing support. Academic Technology Services brings together outstanding IT resources and support for teaching, presentations, instructional technology development projects, and a faculty community of practice.

Cool Text

Cool Text is a free graphics generator for web pages and anywhere else you need an impressive logo without a lot of design work. Simply choose what kind of image you would like. Then fill out a form and you'll have your own custom image created on the fly.

Wordle

Wordle is a simple tool you can use to generate a graphic that looks like a tag cloud. You can type or paste in some text, and Wordle will analyze it to see how often each word in the text appears. Then it generates a graphic with the most common words appearing in different sizes to match the word frequency. You can even input a color scheme so that the graphic you end up with matches whatever else you have in your site. Pretty slick.

Tiny Chat provides disposable conference rooms with a simple url for up to 400 people and up to 12 live audio video streams, that just work, no signup.

PDFCreator

PDFCreator is a free program to easily create PDFs from any Windows program. Use it like a printer in Word, StarCalc or any other Windows application.

Flip Cams Come to Class

UD faculty have a new option for recording and distributing student presentations, guest lectures, or special classroom events by borrowing a Flip video camera. These compact, easy to use cameras record up to two 1-hour high definition videos. Simply return the camera to IT ATS for processing. Recordings will be posted securely online, and clients will receive a link to access and share with a select audience. Flip cameras are available for loan from IT Academic Technology Services.

Celestia

A free program that allows you to navigate the universe through time and space. Here is a sample YouTube video of the types of things you can see and capture. Both video and still capture are supported.
