- Delete all previous versions of LockDown on your Mac (Move to Trash, then Empty Trash), and delete all history and cookies from your internet browser (Safari, Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.). Make sure you are not using or enabling any screengrab, security or other extensions or add-ons for the browser you are using to take the exam.
- Download the University of Delaware version of LockDown browser here and install the application.
- Go to System Preferences>Security & Privacy and add the following domains as “trusted sites”:
- https://static-public-downloads-cloud.respondus.com
- https://www.respondus.com
- https://smc-service-cloud.respondus2.com
- Note: Programs running in the background can cause the LockDown Browser to freeze or stop responding, such as iTunes, file sharing and instant messenger applications. It is best to close every internet or Java program on your computer before starting the LockDown Browser. Make sure you relax your firewall and antivirus/internet security and add the domains listed above as exclusions to the firewall or antivirus.
- Log into Canvas and try to take the Practice Quiz or exam. Remember to make sure there are no programs running in the background first. If you encounter any issues or command prompts, please take a picture/screengrab.
If the setup does not work, restart your Mac and follow steps 1-4 again. If it still does not work, follow these additional steps:
- Create another user account with administrator privileges to serve as your “test account.”
- Log in to the new test user account with the proper user and network settings to start LockDown Browser.
- Follow steps 1-4 again and make sure this account has no background internet programs installed and working for this user. Your Mac may block the domain through parental/user controls, third-party security programs, or network/ISP blocking.
