Tech Talk Tuesdays – Virtually Yours

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Join us for April’s Tech Talk Tuesday session, Virtually Yours, where faculty will highlight virtual experiences that provide real world experiences to students. For this session, we welcome Saskia Richter, Health Sciences, and Sheara Williamson, Health Sciences as they share all about the use of virtual dissection tables in their classes. We would also like to welcome Dr. Eman Alsaqabi, Biomechanics and Movement Science Program, who will be talking about the CoBal Lab on STAR campus and research with balance using virtual environments. We hope you can join us for the last Tech Talk of the academic year!!

College of Health Sciences

Saskia Richter, PhD, ATC is an associate professor at the University of Delaware (UD) in the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology. She earned her BS from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in Athletic Training. Following undergrad, she attended The Ohio State University and earned an MS and PhD in Anatomy. Upon graduation, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Anatomy at A.T. Still University (ATSU) – Arizona School of Health Sciences. While at ATSU, she studies the role of three-dimensional printing and diagnostic ultrasound as tools to enhance student understanding of complex anatomical structures. In her current role at UD, she teaches anatomy courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, introduction to sports health care, and leads an annual international healthcare practicum abroad. Eman Alsaqabi

Eman Alsaqabi

Researcher
College of Health Sciences

Eman Alsaqabi is a researcher and licensed clinician specializing in neuromuscular physical therapy focusing on balance, sensory integration, and motor control in people with balance and sensorimotor-related impairments. Having completed a PhD in Biomechanics and Movement Science at the University of Delaware, Dr. Alsaqabi brings extensive expertise in examining the role of sensory deficits and sensory integration in neural control of balance in patients with both neurological disorders and musculoskeletal conditions. This work extends to applications of stochastic resonance stimulation in rehabilitation across multiple patient populations during walking in a virtual reality setting. With a rich academic background, including a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Arcadia University and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Alsaqabi combines clinical practice with cutting-edge research. She is currently affiliated with Kuwait University and has previously served at the Armed Forces Hospital in Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense. Beyond research and clinical work, she enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering in community-based organizations, where she implements preventive care and health awareness.
