Getting ready for your studio recording:
The IT-ATS studio in Pearson Hall is available upon request for faculty and staff.
The studio has options for recording:
- Audio only/podcasts
- Green screen*
- Lightboard
*Green screen recordings have the option of utilizing our teleprompter (please email your script to us at least one day prior to your recording date.) You may also bring your laptop to screen share in your recording.
There is a maximum capacity of 2 individuals recording together.
On the day of your recording, please come into our main office, Pearson Hall 116, to check-in with our staff. We will bring you into the studio across the hall, in room 115, and will set up everything that you need! You will be alone for the recording (unless you request a studio technician to stay with you) with the ability to start and stop the recordings yourself. The studio also includes a space to leave your bags/coat, and includes a lighted mirror for a final check before recording!
Please note the studio can be booked Monday-Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm. Reservations are required. Send your reservation request to udcapture-info@udel.edu, including your preferred dates, times, and indicate if you will be using the Green Screen, Light Board, and Podcast mics.
If you are planning to use more than one recording option, please make separate reservations. For example, if you want to use both the Green Screen and the Lightboard, please book two separate reservation times. These times can be on the same day and consecutive. This will help our staff prepare for your reservation and ensure that we have enough time to switch the studio over for a different recording option.
Recording tips!
1. Do a test recording to make sure you’re happy with how it looks and sounds.
2. Wait 5 seconds before and after recordings: When you start recording, stay still, look directly at the camera, and smile! Do the same before you end the recording as well! You can always trim the start/end of your recording later.
3. Project your voice: It’s easy to speak softly when you are recording in a room by yourself. Speak loud and clear, as if you were speaking to someone at least 10 feet away from you. We promise it will make a world of difference!
4. Bring a notepad: Whether you plan on doing one long recording, or a series of short recordings, bring a notepad to keep track of the number of videos you record, and any notes that may save you time later for editing your videos! |
