Tech Talk Tuesdays – Paul J Rickards Teaching Innovation Grant Recipients & Info Session

Join us for our March Tech Talk Tuesday session featuring Paul J. Rickards, Jr. Teaching Innovation Grant recipients Ellen Monk, Lerner College of Business and Economics, Matt Kinservik, Arts and Sciences, and Rachel Lapp, UDIT Academic Technology Services. They will share their experiences in the application process, the implementation of their grant & how it influenced their teaching. We will also have grant manager Racine Lewis share information about the grant, eligibility requirements, and key deadlines. Whether you have a fully formed project idea or are just beginning to explore possibilities, this session is for you!

Ellen Monk

Ellen Monk serves as an Associate Professor Continuing Track in Management Information Systems and the Associate Chair of MIS in the Department of Accounting and MIS at the Lerner College of Business and Economics. She holds a PhD in Information Systems and Computing from Brunel University, UK. Specializing in Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, she has co-authored four editions of Concepts in Enterprise Resource Planning. Ellen also holds the position of treasurer on the SAP North America Academic Faculty Board. Additionally, she has co-authored 17 editions of Problem Solving Cases in Microsoft Access and Excel. Beyond her academic publications and presentations, Ellen has recently collaborated with colleagues from Pennsylvania State University on virtual reality research. She is enthusiastic about sharing her virtual reality experiences with students to enhance engagement and team dynamics, and she expresses gratitude to the university for the PJR Teaching Innovation Grant that made this work possible.

Matt Kinservik

Matt Kinservik is a Professor in the Department of English. He has taught at UD since 1997 and has served in a number of administrative roles in the Department of English, the College of Arts & Sciences and the Office of the Provost. He is a member of the Working Group on AI for Teaching and Learning and considers himself a lifelong learner in terms of good pedagogy, looking for new ways to engage students and improve learning outcomes.

Rachel Lapp is an instructional designer and former instructor with a passion for making education more engaging, human-centered, and connected to the real world. She specializes in visual design and learning innovation, creating courses that spark curiosity, meet students where they are, and invite them to see the world in new ways.
