The following resources are provided to University of Delaware instructors who want to make recordings for asynchronous delivery.
Recording at Home at Options
Please review the options available to all faculty at no cost to record learning videos at home. If these resources are not viable for your situation at home, you can use the following options to record in an on campus space.
Not sure which is right for you? Start a conversation about your learning video needs by emailing us at udcapture-info@udel.edu.
Guidelines for Access to On-Campus Recording Locations
Before coming to campus, you must review and adhere to the Return to Campus guidelines, which includes a home health screening prior to coming to campus.
Use UD Capture Classroom Capture
UD Capture Classroom Capture is a free opt-in service and is available in all centrally scheduled classrooms on the Newark campus. It records the projected visuals from your laptop or a document camera along with the sound from your synchronous in-person classroom. There are no cameras that record images of people and the chalk board is not recorded.
UD Capture Classroom Capture can be requested for all of your regular classroom meeting periods. Recordings are automatically added to your My Media and available in Canvas and UD Capture space to share with your students. UD Capture Classroom Capture can be requested after room assignments have been released.
Visit the UD Capture Classroom Capture Request page to submit your request form.
Record in UD Capture Self Service Studio
UD Capture Self Service studios, located in Gore 309 and Harker ISE 208, are available for faculty to self-schedule in 1 hour increments. The room allows you to record using your own laptop or from the provided document camera as well as your own voice using our microphone to make asynchronous recording. You can start and stop a recording to create any number of learning videos. When finished, simply choose the dropbox option, enter your email address, and the recording will be sent to you in about an hour. You can then download the recording and upload it to your My Media in Canvas.
No technician is on site to assist but IT ATS staff are available to assist via the Faculty Commons Virtual Welcome Bar Zoom Session (8:30am-4:30pm M-F).
Make an appointment: Please visit the UD Capture Self Service Studios for more info and to a schedule time.
Note: You will need a key (OMS 1-1×1) to open the door. Keys for Gore 309 and ISE 208 are available for pickup from IT UMS Classroom Technology staff M-F 9am-4pm at East Hall.
Recording in Pearson Hall Learning Studios
The Pearson Hall Learning (ITV) Studios, located on the third floor of Pearson Hall, are available by appointment for faculty to record video content for courses. Instructors can work with an IT staff person to record video on camera, as well as to capture visuals from your computer, a document camera, or other sources. Appointments vary based on demand, but are generally available M-F 9:00am – 4:00pm.
To make an appointment: Please contact Stacy Weile at sweile@udel.edu to discuss your recording needs, inquire about availability, and to make an appointment. Due to demand, please arrive promptly for your appointment time.
